Concussion in Sport – Information Session (Free Community Event) We’re pleased to offer a valuable education session for our club community on concussion in sport, delivered by local paediatrician Dr Brooke Doherty. Dr Brooke works at Barwon Health, including the Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service and Concussion Clinic, and is the current game day doctor for the Geelong Falcons, and has previously worked with Geelong AFLW and Barwon Heads FNC teams. She’s also a mum of two very sporty boys and understands firsthand the balance between keeping kids active and keeping them safe. This session is tailored specifically to junior football head injury management and is ideal for first aiders, coaches, club officials, and parents. Topics will include: What concussion is (and isn’t) What to do if a head injury occurs Return to training and play guidelines Current policies and shared responsibilities between clubs and families There will be plenty of time for questions, so bring along anything you’ve been unsure about. While focused on football, the content is highly relevant to netballers, basketballers, and senior players—so everyone is welcome.
